Overview
We are seeking a motivated Commercial HVAC/R Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems. Your expertise will ensure our clients’ environments remain comfortable, efficient, and compliant with industry standards. Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair commercial HVAC/R systems including air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment, boilers, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose electrical issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to optimize performance and extend lifespan.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to execute installations and repairs accurately.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical problems involving building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, plumbing connections, and HVAC controls.
- Conduct equipment repairs using hand tools and specialized mechanical tools while adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all work performed for quality assurance and client records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician in commercial HVAC/R environments with construction experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of HVAC systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and appliances repair.
- Ability to read schematics and HVAC design plans accurately; familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) is a plus.
- Skilled in electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters; capable of troubleshooting electrical systems effectively.
- Experience with plumbing connections related to HVAC systems; knowledge of mechanical systems repair is essential.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred for van driving responsibilities.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.

Position Summary
As a Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, install, and maintain commercial heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems for retail and commercial customers. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Install HVAC/R systems, components, and replacement equipment
- Service rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, package units, refrigeration systems, boilers, and controls
- Work on commercial HVAC systems ranging from 1 to 50+ tons
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Recommend repair and replacement solutions to customers
- Complete work orders, service reports, and required documentation accurately
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean working condition
- Adhere to company safety standards and industry best practices
- Provide professional customer service at all job sites
- Participate in an on-call rotation, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of Commercial HVAC/R Service experience
- Graduate of an accredited HVAC technical training program
- EPA Universal Certification (Required)
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of: Commercial HVAC systems, Refrigeration systems, Electrical troubleshooting, Boilers, HVAC controls and control systems, Join Total Comfort Group

- Experience servicing retail and commercial facilities
- Advanced troubleshooting and controls experience
- Additional HVAC/R certifications
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required
- Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and standing
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work safely in commercial and retail environments
